Privacy Policy

Akshar is an educational Augmented Reality (AR) app designed for children aged 2–8 years. It uses your device's camera to place interactive 3D models of letters, shapes, animals, fruits, vegetables, and vehicles in the real world, accompanied by toddler-friendly phonics narration.

Akshar is developed as an independent project. This Privacy Policy applies to the Akshar mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and to the website at aksh.ar.

We collect no personal information whatsoever. Specifically:

• We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any contact information.
• We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprints.
• We do not collect location data, GPS coordinates, or IP addresses.
• We do not collect camera images or video recordings. Camera access is used solely to render the AR scene in real time on your device — no frames are ever transmitted or stored outside the app.
• We do not use analytics SDKs, crash-reporting libraries, or any third-party data collection tools.

All app data (lesson progress, imported 3D models) is stored locally on your device using an encrypted on-device database and is never transmitted to any server.

Akshar requests access to your device's camera solely to power the Augmented Reality experience. Camera frames are processed entirely on your device using ARCore (Android) or ARKit (iOS). No camera data leaves your device.

Akshar does not request microphone access. The app uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine for phonics narration — no audio is recorded or transmitted.

Akshar is designed for use by young children and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the UK & EU GDPR provisions for children's data.

Because we collect no personal data at all, there is no parental consent requirement — but we encourage parents and teachers to be involved in their child's use of the app.

Akshar is listed in the "Kids" category on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It meets their respective requirements for children's apps, including the prohibition on behavioural advertising and third-party analytics.

Akshar uses the following platform-provided services — all of which operate under the respective platform's own privacy policies:

• ARCore (Google, Android only) — for AR surface detection. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• ARKit (Apple, iOS only) — for AR surface detection. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Flutter Text-to-Speech — uses the operating system's built-in TTS engine. No data is sent to external TTS servers.

We do not integrate any advertising networks, social media SDKs, payment processors, or analytics platforms.

The Akshar website is hosted on GitHub Pages and uses no cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics scripts. We do not serve ads and do not collect visitor information.

GitHub Pages may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page) as part of its hosting infrastructure. This is governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement.

Since we store no data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. All app data lives exclusively on your device.

To remove all app data, simply uninstall Akshar from your device. This permanently removes all locally stored lessons, imported models, and preferences.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you have concerns about any changes, please contact us.
